A Novel Experience: Writing Lessons I’ve Learned the Hard Way.

Next time I begin a writing project I will: know my tribe is cheering!

 Who is your tribe?

I don’t know how many times I have read a blog about the importance of gathering a tribe…basically having a loyal following who cares about what you have to say.

The idea daunted me (how do you get right strangers to find you and then care?)!

…and annoyed me (I hate the term ‘tribe’…I personally don’t think the concept is that similar to being part of a proper tribal community. Anyway I’ll use the term and save that rant for another day).

Then one day after stressing more than I should about it…it suddenly dawned on me…hey..I have friends!

OK so I knew I had friends, but the whole tribe lingo had somehow made me think that the authors were meaning it had to be made up of people I had never met yet.

OK so maybe that is super obvious to everyone else…except me?

Next time I begin a writing project I will: know my tribe is cheering!

I will feel confident, knowing I have a collection of great friends and family, interested in hearing what I have to say.

Even if what I write about isn’t their favourite subject!

I’m thankful that they ask me how I’m going, and listen to the answer.

Maybe one day my tribe will grow to include others that I have never met…but I’m very thankful for those of you who are cheering me on right now!

Cheers friends!
