Frequently Asked Questions

  • Do you move around a lot?
    – Yes. Since starting this website I have lived in Italy, Austria, Rwanda, Australia and now Barbados!
  • When did you start writing?
    – I have been writing down random ideas, and designing book covers for my novel ideas since I was at least 10 or 11, probably before then. I wrote a lot in university to procrastinate writing my assignments, and because I couldn’t find the type of book I wanted to read.
  • Are you part of a writing group?
    – Yes! I have a wonderful writing group that is based in Australia, called The Writer’s Hexagon. There is an anthology of our work coming out soon!
Writing groups are a wonderful way to learn from other writers and develop your skills. They also help you learn to take on board constructive criticism, if that is something you struggle with, like I do.

  • How do you get inspiration?
    – From everything. Random thoughts, something little that makes me curious. I stare into space a lot, knitting random ideas and possibilities together.

  • Why do you self-publish?
    – I enjoy learning about every aspect of publishing and also that I can get my work into my friends’ hands more quickly.

  • What do you like to read?
    – At the moment I’m all about the uplifting story and the happy endings. The tragedy can’t be too tragic because then I’ll be sobbing and traumatised. I love romance, but mostly Young Adult, and I also enjoy fantasy.

  • Are you also an artist?
    – Yes! You can see my art in The Cats of Rome and I draw colouring pages.
Also, I have done some collaboration with Coral and Botanica Homewares (in Australia) on jewellery and some of my art has been used on various homewares like blankets, dishtowels and tablecloths.

  • Why do you use Canva for some of your books?
-Depending where I am in the world depends on what kind of resources I can access easily, which includes drawing materials, paper types, but also what technology is available and affordable. This, as well as my current skills impact how well any hand-drawn illustrations come out in a book. I am working all the time on upgrading my techniques, finding new ways to work and publish, but I’m also thankful for tools like Canva that allow their use for books. I do not use AI tools, I simply create collages of available digital shapes, images and text to make each page.
